Get to Know the Ethereum Name Service (ENS)

The Ethereum Name Service, defined as a distributed, public and extensible naming system based on the Ethereum blockchain, was developed by Nick Johnson − a software engineer from New Zealand.

The ENS, Ethereum Name Service’s governance token, grants its holders voting rights in the management of the protocol.

The Ethereum Name Service provides a network and gives people the opportunity to register an .eth domain name, similar to the Ethereum. It was the first organisation of its kind to run a decentralised domain name service on Web 3.0.

As of 4 August 2022, when this article was written, the current circulation was 20,244,862 ENS. The total, fixed supply is 100,000,000 ENS.

To date, the lowest price of the ENS was 132.91 TL (14 June 2022). The highest price was 1,539.38 TL (11 November 2021).
