- Terra was developed by entrepreneur Daniel Shin and software engineer Do Kwon in January 2018 and network was launched in April 2019.
- Terra is a blockchain protocol that is used for contributing to digital payment systems, especially e-commerce systems, with creating stable cryptocurrencies that are indexed to fiat currencies.
- LUNA, the native cryptocurrency of the Terra blockchain, is used to stabilize the prices of fixed-value cryptocurrencies on the Terra blockchain.
- The total supply of LUNA is capped at 1 billion LUNA tokens. But after, a total of 197,374,509 LUNAs were burned and removed from circulation.
- At the time of writing, LUNA’s lowest price was ₺1.64 (13 March 2020) and the highest price was ₺13.79 (27 December 2021).

Following the hard fork on the Terra (LUNA) blockchain at block number 7,790,000 on 26 May 2022, the existing Terra blockchain was named Terra Classic (LUNC) and the newly created blockchain was named Terra (LUNA).
