What is EIP?

- EIP is an abbreviation for “Ethereum Improvement Proposal” and stands for Improvement proposals on the Ethereum Network.
- EIPs refer to the processes by which Ethereum network upgrades and implementation standards are discussed and developed.
- EIPs define certain standards for the Ethereum platform, including basic protocol principles, client APIs, and contract standards.
- EIPs provide a technical standard for changes as well as the unit where management takes place in Ethereum. Accordingly, stakeholders in the community are debating to determine whether the standards should be adopted.
- EIP processes include five different stages: idea/discussion, draft, review, final call and final decision.
- EIPs are expressed by various names according to the technical differences they contain. For example, the Ethereum Gray Glacier update includes the EIP-5133 recommendation.
